YMCA of Centre County to Host Healthy Kids Day Event

YMCA of Centre County will host its annual Healthy Kids Day event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the State College YMCA.

Free and open to the community, the event will feature activities such as swimming, a Wibit aquatic obstacle course and rock climbing, as well as door prizes, giveaways, healthy snacks, car seat safety checks and more.

Several Penn State athletes and Ike the Spike also will be in attendance.

“It’s so important for kids to stay health over the summer, both physically and mentally,” Jamie SanFilippo, community outreach director for the YMCA of Centre County, said in a news release. “At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free, community-wide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great summer activities the Y has to offer.”

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the overall health and well-being of kids and families and inspire them to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer months and beyond.
