Centre County Adds 130 COVID-19 Cases over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 7,910

Centre County reported 130 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 47 on Sunday and 83 on Monday — to bring its total to 10,655, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 7,910 new cases — 3,976 on Sunday and 3,934 on Monday — bringing the statewide total to 807,867.

The county also had 507 additional negative test results over the two days, increasing its total to 56,103. Across Pennsylvania there were 22,530 new negatives for a total of 3,569,440.

DOH reported two new COVID-19 deaths among Centre County residents to bring the total to 185. Coroner Scott Sayers has confirmed 130 deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, ranging in age from 55 to 104.

With 138 new COVID-19 deaths reported on Sunday and Monday, Pennsylvania’s total is now 20,664.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 31 COVID-19 patients, one fewer than its last update on Friday. The patients range in age from 13 to 96, a hospital spokesperson said.

Statewide, 3,887 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 770 in intensive care and 461 on ventilators.

Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported three new cases among residents and one among staff. A total of 16 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 649 resident cases, 139 employee cases and 134 resident deaths.

An estimated 79% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 710,456 are confirmed and 97,411 are probable. In Centre County, 9,921 are confirmed and 734 are probable.
