Centre County Adds 36 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,652

Centre County reported 36 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 13,257, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,652 positives, bringing the statewide total to 958,382.

The county also had 164 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 62,458. Across Pennsylvania, there were 7,967 new negatives for a total of 3,971,674.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the fifth consecutive day, keeping the total at 213.

With 51 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,490.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 13 COVID-19 inpatients, two more than on Wednesday. The patients range in age from 51 to 90, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, 1,494 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 320 in intensive care and 191 on ventilators.

Centre County nursing and personal care homes added one COVID-19 case among residents and three among employees. A total of 17 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 712 resident cases, 151 employee cases and 162 resident deaths.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 30,251 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 17,901 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 821,861 are confirmed and 136,521 are probable. In Centre County, 12,140 are confirmed and 1,117 are probable.
