Centre County’s COVID-19 case total increased by four on Tuesday to 13,177, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It would be the county’s lowest daily increase since Aug. 27.
Data shows, however, that a number of previously reported cases have been removed from the county’s total. The number of confirmed cases in the 16801 zip code decreased by 41, while 16802 increased by 14. The county’s total number of confirmed cases decreased by nine overall. The total number of negative tests decreased by 54.
Of Centre County’s total cases, 12,078 are confirmed and 1,099 are probable. The county has had a total of 62,101 negative test results.
A Department of Health spokesperson has not yet responded to a request for clarification. In the past, unusual fluctuations in totals have been attributed to corrected patient addresses
Pennsylvania added 2,975 positives on Tuesday to bring its total to 953,136 — 817,865 confirmed and 135,271 probable.
Statewide there were 7,689 new negatives for a total of 3,955,709.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 213.
With 40 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,396.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 13 COVID-19 inpatients, four fewer than on Monday. The patients range in age from 43 to 87, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Across Pennsylvania on Tuesday, 1,530 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 313 in intensive care and 172 on ventilators.
An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
A total of 29,740 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 16,170 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.
