Centre County reported 46 new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 13,303, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 3,074 positives, bringing the statewide total to 961,456.
The county also had 129 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 62,587. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,224 new negatives for a total of 3,980,898.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the sixth consecutive day, keeping the total at 213.
With 40 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,530.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 19 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of six since Thursday. The patients range in age from 47 to 90, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Since March 1, the hospital has had an average daily census of 15 COVID-19 inpatients. In February, that figure was 18 per day and in January it was 41 per day.
“With hospitalizations down, we are cautiously optimistic that this trend will continue, but stress the necessity of consistent, continued adherence to COVID safety protocols,” Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nirmal Joshi said in a statement. “This includes masking, avoiding large gatherings, social distancing and frequent hand washing.”
Statewide, 1,463 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 320 in intensive care and 165 on ventilators.
Centre County nursing and personal care homes added five COVID-19 cases among residents. A total of 17 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 717 resident cases, 151 employee cases and 162 resident deaths.
An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
A total of 31,542 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, an increase of 1,291 since Thursday. The total includes 18,354 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.
Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 823,969 are confirmed and 137,487 are probable. In Centre County, 12,182 are confirmed and 1,121 are probable.
