Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 25 COVID-19 inpatients, two more than on Thursday. The patients range in age from 22 to 89, according to a hospital spokesperson.

In March, the medical center had 124 COVID positive admissions and an average daily census of 18 COVID inpatients. Through the first nine days of April, Mount Nittany already has had 37 COVID-related admissions and an average daily census of 22.

“We continue to see our highest number of COVID related hospitalizations since before the pandemic, and are very concerned with this trend,” Dr. Upendra Thaker, MNMC’s chief medical officer, said in a statement.

Mount Nittany continues to restrict visitations and is prepared to make adjustments to services if needed, Thaker said.

“We are making great strides against the virus, but we are not done,” he said. “Together, we can reach the other side of the pandemic. Each of us at Mount Nittany Health ask that you please help us by continuing to avoid social gatherings, keep wearing your masks and frequently wash your hands. These measures have been proven to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and we need the entire community to do its part. We cannot do this alone.”
