Centre County Reports 1 New COVID-19 Death, 1 New Case

Centre County reported one new death attributed to COVID-19 and one new case of the virus on Friday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The county has had 228 total COVID-19 deaths among residents and 16,923 cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Pennsylvania added 304 positives on Friday for a statewide total of 1,212,561.

With eight new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,695.

The county also reported 56 negatives, bringing its total to 71,145. Statewide, there were 5,214 new negatives for a total of 4,775,280.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, four COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, one more than on Thursday, with one in intensive care and one on a ventilator.

Pennsylvania has 300 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 10 since Thursday, with 49 in intensive care [-10] and 38 on ventilators [-5].

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 76,438 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,299 are partially covered.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 62.9% of all Pennsylvanians and 75.5% of the state’s adults have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
