Centre County reported one new COVID-19 death and two new cases of the virus on Saturday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
The county now has 227 COVID-19 deaths and 16,912 cases since the first of each were reported in March 2020.
Pennsylvania added 183 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,211,482. With seven new deaths reported on Saturday, the statewide total is now 27,643.
Centre County reported 53 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,828. Statewide, there were 5,396 new negatives for a total of 4,747,726.
For the week of June 18-24, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 0.7%, down from 1.7% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard.
The rate was tied for ninth lowest among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
The statewide positivity rate was 1.2%, down from 1.4% the previous seven days and marking a decline for the 10th consecutive week.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, five COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, one fewer than on Friday, with one in intensive care [-1] and one on a ventilator [-1].
As of Friday, COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized at Mount Nittany Medical Center ranged in aged from 19 to 76, according to a hospital spokesperson. The medical center has had an average daily census of eight COVID-19 inpatients in June.
Pennsylvania has 359 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 20 since Friday, with 64 in intensive care [-10] and 60 on ventilators [-5].
An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.
As of Saturday morning, 75,683 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,532 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
