For the first time in nearly a year, Centre County reported no new COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days.
With no new positives added on Sunday or Monday, the county’s case total remains at 16,908. the last time Centre County went two days in a row with no new cases was June 29- 30, 2020.
Pennsylvania reported 295 new cases over the past two days — 166 on Sunday and 129 on Monday — to bring the statewide total to 1,210,469. Monday marked the state’s lowest increase since March 21, 2020.
The county reported 80 additional negative test results on Sunday and Monday, bringing its total to 70,544. Statewide, there were 6,557 new negatives for a total of 4,719,185.
For the week of June 11-17, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 1.7%, up slightly from 1.6% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard.
The rate was tied for 36th among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
The statewide positivity rate was 1.4%, down from 1.9% the previous seven days and marking a decline for the ninth consecutive week.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, eight COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, unchanged from Saturday, with two in intensive care and one on a ventilator [+1].
Pennsylvania has 406 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 35 since Saturday, with 93 in intensive care [-6] and 67 on ventilators.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 225.
With 10 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,570.
An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.
As of Monday morning, 74,912 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,715 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
