Centre County Reports No New COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Adds 258 Positives

Centre County reported no new COVID-19 cases on Friday, marking the fifth time this week and ninth time this month without a new positive.

The county has had a total of 16,910 cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 258 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,211,299.

Centre County reported 89 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,775. Statewide, there were 5,943 new negatives for a total of 4,742,330.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, six COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County with two in intensive care and two on ventilators — all unchanged from Thursday.

Pennsylvania has 379 COVID-19 inpatients, one fewer than on Thursday, with 74 in intensive care [-1] and 65 on ventilators [-5].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 226.

With nine new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,636.

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 75,576 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,579 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
