COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic to Be Held in Boalsburg

Walmart and the Pennsylvania Department of Health are partnering to hold a three-day COVID-19 vaccine clinic this week in Boalsburg for individuals eligible under Phase 1A of the state’s distribution plan.

Appointments are required for vaccinations — which will take place Thursday through Saturday at Calvary Harvest Fields, 150 Harvest Fields Drive — and can be made by calling 1-800-753-8827. Vaccines will be available while supplies last.

“We have two goals as we administer vaccines: first, to get as many shots in eligible arms as possible so we can start the process of reopening our country, and second, ensuring equitable vaccine access across the communities we serve,” Dr. Cheryl Pegus, executive vice president of Walmart Health & Wellness, said in a statement. “We will continue finding new ways to increase vaccination access for our customers as we work towards the eventual end of the pandemic.”

Insurance is not required and there is no cost to receive the vaccine. Appointments to receive the second dose Pfizer BioNTech vaccine will be made during the first appointment.

Individuals eligible to receive the vaccine in Phase 1A include all residents 65 and older and those ages 16 to 64 with certain high-risk medical conditions that make them more vulnerable to the virus.

Walmart is working with the CDC, 35 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to administer vaccines to eligible populations.

“Walmart is holding vaccine events in locations that prioritize access for those deemed most vulnerable, as well as operational capabilities,” according to a news release. “The team factored in demographic information, local health needs, staffing and medically underserved data to identify initial locations where the company thinks it can make the greatest impact in increasing vaccine access.”

The company expects vaccine clinics “will take place over the next several weeks as allocation allows.”
