It was a far cry from the scene there on most weekends last fall — when crowds usually lined up to strike a pose as a game day tradition. At about 7:45 p.m. Saturday night, the snow-covered Joe Paterno statue was surrounded by about 25 anxious figures, shaken over the fact that former head football coach Paterno was in critical condition at the hospital.
