Penn State to Continue Hosting 5 PIAA Spring Championships Through 2030

State championship events for five Pennsylvania high school spring sports will remain in Centre County for at least the next four years, the PIAA announced on Wednesday.

Penn State will continue to serve as host for the baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse championships through 2030 following the PIAA’s request for proposal process.

Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will once again host the baseball championships; Beard Filed at Nittany Lion Softball Park hosts softball; Rec Hall hosts boys’ volleyball; and Panzer Stadium host lacrosse.

Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium also will continue as the site of the state track and field championships, and the Hershey Racquet Club will again host the boys’ tennis championships.

Byers said in a statement. “These outstanding institutions have consistently demonstrated a commitment to providing first-class championship venues and an exceptional experience for our student-athletes, coaches, officials and fans as we continue to celebrate the very best of high school athletics in Pennsylvania.”

Penn State has hosted the boys’ volleyball championships since 2006, and began serving as the site for the baseball and softball title matchups in 2011. The lacrosse championships moved to Panzer Stadium in 2023.

Each of the events are held on the same weekend in June, forming what Penn State and local tourism officials have dubbed the Spring Sport Championships Festival, welcoming more than 1,000 athletes, coaches and administrators from dozens of high schools each year.
