One person died in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday night on U.S. Route 322 in southern Centre County, according to State College police.
A male who was driving a Dodge truck was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at about 7:45 p.m on the 1900 block of Boal Avenue in Harris Township near Tait Farm, police wrote in a media release on Thursday. His name has not been released pending family notification.
He was traveling westbound when he crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a tractor-trailer, a preliminary investigation found. The tractor-trailer went off the roadway and rolled over onto its side, and the Dodge struck another vehicle before coming to a rest on the berm.
The other two drivers reported no injuries.
Route 322 was closed between the Route 45/Old Fort exit and the Route 144 exit at Potters Mills for about eight hours for investigation and clean-up before reopening around 4 a.m.
Boalsburg Fire Department and Fire Police, the Centre County Coroner’s Office, PennDOT and Centre Lifelink EMS assisted at the scene.
