Throughout Tuesday and into Tuesday night, there is a chance for snow flurries. There is also the potential for a couple of heavier snow showers that could bring a quick coating of snow from midday into the evening.
The National Weather Service issued an alert as snow squalls – sudden, heavy snow – could create hazardous travel conditions. There is also the potential for melted snow to refreeze on untreated roadways.
“It could slick up some roads,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. “And parts of the area where those snow showers persist there could be a coating of snow.”

Last weekend, the area experienced temperatures in the 60s. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be roughly 35 degrees colder.
“Temperatures will probably be dipping into the teens Tuesday night, so it will be even more of a shock for some folks after the weekend warmth and balmy conditions,” Sosnowski said.
Locally, it will dry out for Christmas Day. The high is expected to be about 28 degrees.
“By Christmas Day winds will ease off. It will be a calm, tranquil, cold day,” Sosnowski said.
For rest of week, temperatures will peak in the mid-30s through Saturday. The area is not expected to see any significant snow fall for the rest of the week.
