Number 1 on Saturday night’s Sportscenter Top Plays was none other than Allen Robinson’s end-of-regulation catch at the one-yard line, which set up the tying score by Hackenberg to force overtime.
Before this catch, Robinson had been having a relatively quiet game, and I say “relatively” because the star wideout posted at least seven catches, 129 yards, and a score in four of Penn State’s first five games. However, you can’t keep a player of Robinson’s caliber down forever — literally, since he used most of his 38-inch vertical on this play — which the Wolverines learned the hard way when he pulled down the game-changing 36-yard bomb over Michigan cornerback Channing Stribling.
Robinson’s leaping catch on the bomb from Hackenberg was the start of an improbable comeback, in which Penn State fought No. 18 Michigan through four overtime periods before finally sealing the upset victory on a 2-yard Bill Belton run.
