Alpha Fire Company members were busy on Saturday evening giving a ride to a special passenger.
The volunteer fire company continued its annual tradition of escorting Santa Claus through Centre Region neighborhoods on the Christmas Eve Santa Express.
Serving as Santa’s sleighs, engines were decked out in Christmas lights and decorations as convoys departed from Station 5 on South Atherton Street a little after 4 p.m. Alpha operated east and west routes to reach as many neighborhoods as possible over the course of several hours.
Alpha posted routes and offered online tracking so residents could know when Santa would be arriving in their neighborhood. Trucks made periodic stops for families to say hello to Santa and get a closer look at the engines.
