Alpha Fire Company responded Tuesday morning to a call at a State College Area School District building, but it turned out to be a precautionary measure.
A computer network system battery backup overheated at the the Fairmount Avenue Building and prompted the call to the fire company at 11:27 a.m. According to the district, however, there was no fire or structural damage.
‘Alpha Fire Company personnel assisted district employees in locating and deactivating the overheating unit in the building,’ a release from the district stated.
The building, which occupies South Fraser Street between West Nittany Avenue and West Fairmount Avenue, is home to the Delta Program, an alternative education program within the district for grades 5 through 12.
The battery backup will be replaced Wednesday, according to the district, to ensure the network is functioning when school resumes on Jan. 3.
