State College police are investigating what appeared to be a homemade bomb left Monday on a borough police cruiser, authorities said.
Between 1:15 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., an officer found the package ablaze on the trunk area of the unmarked vehicle, police said. It was parked behind the borough municipal building, 243 S. Allen St.
‘The officer was able to knock the package off the trunk and (extinguish) the flames before further damage to the police vehicle occurred,’ a news release reads.
Police said the package looked to be a homemade bomb made of household items and other materials.
An investigation is continuing. Centre County CRIMESTOPPERS is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
