A Bellefonte man will serve eight to 16 years in prison for raping a woman at a party in State College.
Last March, a jury convicted 23-year-old Phillip Giunta of sexual assault, rape and aggravated indecent assault.
Giunta confronted his 19-year-old victim outside a house party on September 5, 2011.
Prosecutors say he pulled the woman off a porch, knocked her down and dragged her around the side of the house where the rape took place.
The victim was left crying and bloody in a muddy mulch bed while Giunta bragged to his friends about having sex with the victim.
Giunta will have to register as a Megan’s Law sexual offender for the rest of his life.
“We are pleased with the Judge’s sentence and hope this gives this brave young victim a feeling she can start moving forward from this brazen violent attack,” said District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller.
