One of Penn State’s notable alumni was back on campus at University Park this past weekend for the dedication of the College of Communications in his name.

The college was renamed the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications last spring following a $30 million gift from the famed television producer, director and screenwriter. The 1961 Penn State graduate has been a driving force behind a number of long-running shows such as “Magnum P.I.,” “Quantum Leap” and “NCIS.”

Bellisario’s gift, one of the largest in Penn State history, will fund a state-of-the-art media center, also to be named after him and housed in Willard Building, and scholarships for communications students, with preference given to military veterans or active-duty service members.

Centre County Report sat down with Bellisario while he was on campus with his family over the weekend for the dedication.
