A 20-year-old Penn State student from Boalsburg died after a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on U.S. Route 322 in Potter Township, according to state police at Rockview and the Centre County Coroner’s Office.

Elizabeth A. Biddle was a passenger in a car that collided with a tractor trailer at about 2:25 a.m. at the intersection of Mountain Back Road and General Potter Highway/U.S. 322.

At about 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, a car driven by an 18-year-old State College man failed to stop at a stop sign on Mountain Back Road and struck the side of a tractor trailer traveling eastbound on the 2700 block of General Potter Highway, according to police.

Biddle was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroner Scott Sayers said in a release that Biddle died of head trauma and her death was ruled accidental.

The driver of the car was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for minor injuries, police said. Another passenger, a 21-year-old State College woman, was evaluated and refused further treatment.

No information about the truck driver was available.

Route 322 was closed between Potters Mills and Boalsburg for about nine hours on Wednesday morning.

Biddle was a fifth semester student in Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of Elizabeth’s passing and send heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this most difficult time,” Penn State spokesman Wyatt DuBois said. “Student Affairs will be in touch with Elizabeth’s family and is offering support to those who we know have been impacted by this tragedy.”
