The contractor on a downtown State College high rise project has been granted an early noise waiver to conduct work on two upcoming mornings.

According to an early noise advisory from the borough, Leonard S. Fiore Inc, general contractor for The Rise at State College, 532-538 E. College Avenue, was granted the waiver to pour concrete at 6 a.m. on Saturday and Monday.

The contractor requested permission for the early work to to allow the concrete to cure before daytime temperatures rose too high for the it to set properly.

Borough Manager Tom Fountaine granted the waiver but required that neighboring properties, including residents at the High Street-Easter Foster Avenue intersection, be notified.

Construction on The Rise began in August 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2018. The 12-story, 140-foot development will include a street-level grocery store, graduate and professional apartments and undergraduate student apartments.

The 330,000 square foot building is located at the former site of Kildare’s Irish Pub and is being developed by Chicago-based CA Student Living, a student housing division of CA Ventures, and Liberty Mutual.
