The fall bulk waste collection scheduled for this month for residential customers in five Centre County townships serviced by Waste Management has been postponed.
Bulk waste collection was originally announced for Oct. 18-22 in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton, which receive refuse collection services through a Centre Region Council of Governments contract with Waste Management (which acquired contractor Advanced Disposal earlier this year).
The delay is to allow time to implement COVID-19 safety protocols “to safely and fully staff this collection event,” Shelly Matos, refuse and recycling program administrator for COG, wrote in an email.
New dates for the bulk collection are still to be determined. Residents should check www.crcog.net/refuse for new dates and updated procedures or call the COG office at 814-234-7198
In the meantime, residents with full service are reminded that they can put out up to three small bulk items per week.
Pickup of additional or large bulk items for a fee can be scheduled with Waste Management by calling 866-272-6861 or scheduling online at wm.com
The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority Transfer Station, 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte, allows self-hauling of waste for a fee, as well as free recycling of appliances and covered electronics.
Many items also can be donated to local non-profits.
