Centre County added one new case of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the local total to 129 since the first was reported on March 20.
Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 986 new cases, bringing the commonwealth’s total to 60,622. It was the fifth consecutive day the state had fewer than 1,000 new cases
The health department also added 124 COVID-19 deaths to its count, which now stands at 4,342. Among the new deaths, 35 were reported to DOH ‘in the past few days,’ according to a release, and 89 were reported as a result of reconciled data from multiple sources ‘over the past several weeks.’
Centre County has had six deaths attributed to the virus, with no new deaths reported on Friday. Four of the deceased patients had been residents of nursing or personal care homes. Among those, two were residents of the Oaks at Pleasant Gap, the senior living community confirmed.
Three Centre County nursing homes have had 16 resident and 11 employee cases, according to DOH. The department does not yet list cases by facility. The Oaks, Wynwood House and Centre Crest have each reported resident or employee cases.

Among Centre County’s bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 204 cases, Mifflin has 57, Union has 44, Clinton has 43, Clearfield has 33 and Blair has 32.
A total of 259,210 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 1,413 people in Centre County. Across the state, 1,958 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 415 requiring a ventilator, as of noon on Friday.
