Centre County Adds 1 New COVID-19 Case

Centre County reported one new COVID-19 case on Wednesday, bringing its total to 196 since the first was reported on March 20.

In the past two weeks, the county has added 38 new cases of the virus. 

Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 495 new cases, increasing Pennsylvania’s total to 83,191.

An estimated 77 percent of patients with the virus — about 64,057 — have recovered, according to the health department.

Pennsylvania has had 6,515 total deaths attributed to the virus, including 54 new deaths reported by the health department on Tuesday. Centre County has had six COVID-19 deaths, the most recent on May 27.

A total of 608,217 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 3,728 people in Centre County, an increase of 95 since Tuesday. Across the state, 715 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 133 requiring use of a ventilator as of noon on Wednesday. 

Among the state’s total cases, 80,810 are confirmed and 2,381 are probable. In Centre County, 182 are confirmed and 14 are probable.

Nursing home cases in Centre County remained unchanged, with 23 among residents and 14 among staff at two facilities.

Among Centre County’s bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 242 total cases, Union has 89, Clinton has 73, Clearfield has 70, Blair has 69 and Mifflin has 61.
