Centre County reported 29 new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 2,231 since the first was reported on March 20, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
The county also had 208 new negative test results. A total of 24,580 patients in the county have tested negative for the virus.
According to DOH data, Centre County has five COVID-19 hospitalizations, an increase of three from Thursday.
In the past two weeks, Centre County has added 1,169 new cases, the vast majority in the State College and University Park zip code and most corresponding to Penn State student testing.
Statewide, the health department reported 806 new cases on Friday, increasing Pennsylvania’s total to 154,203.
There were 12,927 new negative test results across the state. A total of 1,816,397 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for the virus.
An estimated 82% of COVID-19 patients in the state — about 126,446 — have recovered, according to a DOH calculation. The recovery estimate increased by 1%.
Across Pennsylvania, 435 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 58 requiring use of a ventilator.
The health department reported two new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the state’s total at 8,081. DOH has reported 11 total COVID-19 deaths for Centre County, the most recent on Aug. 14. The coroner’s office has confirmed only seven, ranging in age from 74 to 96.
Most COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been among patients 65 and older, according to DOH.
Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 149,410 are confirmed and 4,793 are probable. In Centre County, 2,165 are confirmed and 66 are probable.
