Centre County Adds 32 COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days

Centre County reported 32 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 12 for Sunday and 20 for Monday — to bring its total to 3,719 since the first was reported in March.

The county also had 453 new negative test results over the two days. A total of 33,792 patients in Centre County have tested negative for the virus.

Fourteen new positives were reported among residents and one among employees of Centre County nursing and personal care homes, which have had a combined total of 79 resident cases and 38 employee cases across 11 facilities.

According to DOH data, 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized at Mount Nittany Medical Center, with no ventilators in use.

Statewide, the health department reported 2,372 new positives for the past two days — 1,269 for Sunday and 1,103 for Monday — increasing Pennsylvania’s total to 183,315.

There were 24,116 new negative test results statewide. A total of 2,143,966 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for the virus.

An estimated 80% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation. 

Across Pennsylvania, 870 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 89 requiring use of a ventilator.

The health department reported 34 new COVID-19 deaths statewide, bringing Pennsylvania’s total at 8,500. DOH has reported a total of 15 deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, the most recent on Friday. The coroner’s office has confirmed 11, ranging in age from 74 to 101.

Most COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been among patients 65 and older, according to DOH.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

  • Approximately 1% are ages 0-4;
  • Nearly 2% are ages 5-12;
  • Nearly 5% are ages 13-18;
  • Nearly 14% are ages 19-24; 
  • Nearly 36% are ages 25-49; 
  • Approximately 21% are ages 50-64; and
  • Approximately 21% are ages 65 or older.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 176,054 are confirmed and 7,261 are probable. In Centre County, 3,614 are confirmed and 105 are probable.
