Centre County Reports 1 New COVID-19 Death, No New Cases for Third Consecutive Day

Centre County added no COVID-19 cases for a third consecutive day on Tuesday, a streak last matched in early June 2020, but reported one new death attributed to the virus.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health removed one case from the county’s total, which now stands at 16,907. The county has had a total of 226 COVID-19 deaths.

Pennsylvania added 177 new cases to bring the statewide total to 1,210,646. With 34 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,604.

The county reported 28 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,572. Statewide, there were 5,926 new negatives for a total of 4,725,111.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, eight COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with two in intensive care and one on a ventilator — all unchanged from Monday.

Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations are at their lowest level since March 28, 2020. Pennsylvania has 397 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of nine since Monday, with 91 in intensive care [-2] and 66 on ventilators [-1].

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Tuesday morning, 75,002 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,712 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
