Over the years, more and more people have made the decision to travel by bike.

Realizing this, the Centre Region has worked to provide a safe and convenient environment for its bikers.

In its most recent efforts, the Centre Region Council of Governments (COG) has been working towards a regional Bike Plan for its municipalities.

The goal of the Bike Plan is to identify gaps in the Centre Region Bicycle Network, increase the recognition that bicycles are a form of transportation, and identify recommendations to make bicycling a more viable transportation option.

The COG will host a public meeting tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Centre Region COG Building for the public.

From 5 to 7 p.m., copies of the draft plan will be given out as well as the mapping of each of the municipalities. During this time the public will be able to as questions and talk about the plan. At 7 p.m., a presentation will be given to review recommendations for the plan.

Community members will have until Nov. 30 to give recommendations and comments that will then be reviewed and final suggestions will be made for revision. The anticipated adoption of the bike plan is Dec. 15.
