Christopher Lee’s Trial Delayed Again

The trial of Christopher Lee has been pushed back once again.

Lee, who faces felony child pornography and sexual harassment charges, was originally scheduled to go to trial in December, only about two months after his arrest in October. This was later delayed to April 9, and has now been continued until some time in June.

Prosecutors with the United States Department of Justice requested the delay after adding two new charges to Lee’s list of alleged crimes last week.

In addition to allegedly possessing child pornography and bringing foreign minors into the country with the intent to molest them, prosecutors now claim that Lee also produced child pornography and tampered with his cell phone to impede a criminal investigation.

Kyle Rude, Lee’s attorney, has told StateCollege.com that Lee unsuccessfully opposed the request to delay his trial.

“Mr. Lee maintains his innocence and wishes to be exonerated after a jury trial,” Rude says in an email.

Lee – a former Harris Township supervisor and director of the Boal Mansion Museum – was arrested in October following a joint investigation that involved State College police and the FBI. He has been held in federal custody since then.

Lee stepped down from his prominent community positions last month. He has since been replaced on the Harris Township Board of Supervisors by Penn State professor Bruce Lord. The Boal Mansion Museum has also just announced a new director, with plans to reopen in May.

Lee was charged with misdemeanor indecent assault of a minor in 2005, but entered into Pennsylvania’s accelerated rehabilitative disposition program and was never convicted.
