Though Centre County’s Rep. Scott Conklin still holds a lead of more than 4,000 votes over Philadelphia opponent Jonathan Saidel, the difference in percentages has diminished to less than half of a percentage point.

An automatic recount — to be held if the difference is less than half of a point — seems imminent as 99.83 percent of all precincts have reported. Many of the remaining precincts are within Philadelphia, where Saidel had been City Controller, but The Daily News reported that it’s possible the votes are missing because some machines went unused entirely.

Conklin currently has 35.3 percent of all votes; Saidel has 34.9 percent; Doris A. Smith-Ribner has 29.8 percent.
