With the support of sponsors and contributors, 100 golfers helped raise more than $18,000 at Coquese’s Drive for the Centre County Women’s Resource Center on Friday at the Penn State Blue Course.
Led by Penn State women’s basketball coach Coquese Washington, the annual Coquese’s Drive raised $18,453 for CWRC’s programs to fight domestic and sexual violence in Centre County. Marking its 10th year in 2017, the event has now raised a total of $188,575.
Maribel Lies, George McMurtry, Dean Johnson and Justin Ondik were the winning foursome in the open division with a 15-under par 57. John Carnicella, Terry Carnicella, Mitch Cooper and Frank Shields comprised the runner-up team in the open division.
The women’s division was claimed by Joan Brummert, Genny Vanemon, Gloria Brown and Peggy Smith with an 8-under par 64. Sue Cromwell, Traci Richardson, Joan Ritchie and Karen Krupa claimed runner-up in the women’s division.
Longest drive winners were Dean Johnson on the men’s side and Jeanie Andrews on the women’s side. Johnson (Hole 4) and Joe Ostroski (Hole 7) won the two closest to the pin holes. The team of Andrew Wickerham, Kristin Wright, Janet Justus, Cathy Harner was named the Most Honest foursome on the afternoon.
CCWRC will continue to accept online donations here for 2017 Coquese’s Drive until Aug. 31.
