Two people died in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Route 322 near Philipsburg.
The drivers of two vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene by the Centre County Coroner’s Office after an initial head-on collision. The driver of a third vehicle was unable to avoid the crash and was injured in the secondary collision.
Names of the deceased and the condition of the third driver have not been released.
The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on the 2400 block of the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township, west of Thompson’s Curve, according to Hope Fire Company.
Route 322 was closed between Port Matilda and Philipsburg until about 6 p.m.
