One Person Flown to Hospital After Crash on Benner Pike Near State College

One person was flown to a hospital and a portion of Benner Pike in College Township was temporarily closed on Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash.

The crash happened at about 1:55 p.m. on the 500 block of Benner Pike near the entrance to Perkins, according to Centre County dispatch reports. The road was closed until about 3:30 p.m. at the East College Avenue split.

One person was entrapped in a vehicle and extricated, according to the Centre County Emergency Alerts page operated by local emergency responders.

A LifeFlight helicopter landed nearby on Stewart Drive and flew the patient to the trauma center at UPMC Williamsport.

Traffic was rerouted toward Pleasant Gap on East College Avenue during the closure.

State College police, Centre LifeLink EMS, Alpha Fire Company and Fire Police and Pleasant Gap Fire Company responded.
