District attorney Stacy Parks Miller is banking on the fact that somebody knows who killed Jean Tuggy.

In fact, she’s willing to put her money where her mouth is, announcing on Wednesday afternoon that a $1,000 reward is available for anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest.

‘We are now announcing a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case, information relating to who killed Ms. Tuggy,’ Parks Miller said. ‘The police have been working overtime at eliminating suspects but we right now do not have a strong suspect. We decided it was time to try and do something to change that.’

Tuggy was found dead in her Pine Grove Mills home on Jan. 21 from a gunshot wound to the face. As of now, Parks Miller said that there are no clear suspects in the unsolved murder case.

‘We’re appealing to the public. We want to remind people that she is a real person. She is a mother. She has been a member of this community for a long time,’ Parks Miller said. ‘We want her to remain in the forefront of people’s minds.’

Parks Miller reiterated her belief that when somebody commits a violent crime of this nature, they typically tell somebody what they did.

‘When somebody does something this terrible, they normally tell someone,’ she said. ‘We believe that someone out there knows who did this to her. And we believe that they can be motivated by different things, and that can be a conscience and it might be money now. We don’t care. If money motivates you, that’s fine by us too.

Ferguson Township police sergeant Robert Glenny Jr. explained that police have been tight-lipped with details on this case for good reason. He said that certain evidence and information can be used to confirm whether or not someone is being truthful with details about the crime. Glenny added that police aren’t withholding any information that could be beneficial to public safety.

Tips must be submitted through Crimestoppers in order to be eligible for the $1,000 reward.
