Central PA United will host an afternoon of information and conversation about affordability issues this weekend in State College.
The political advocacy group’s event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, in Sidney Friedman Park, 241 S. Fraser St.
Advocates and nonprofit organizations that work directly with people affected by affordability issues, ranging from housing and utilities to transportation, will be on hand to educate attendees about their work within Centre County.
Starting at 2 p.m., individuals will provide testimonials sharing their struggles with the rising costs of housing, transportation and medical treatment.
Central PA United then will share the current results of its affordability survey to highlight the concerns and trends among community members.
Elected officials of all levels have been invited to attend the event, according to the organization.
“Take the opportunity to get educated about the affordability crisis we face, engage with different advocates and nonprofits that work to address these issues and take the opportunity to become empowered to make a difference in our community,” Central PA United wrote in a press release.
A community meal will be provided.
Those planning to attend are asked to sign up at mobilize.us/paunited/event/923650.
Centre County residents can also take part in the Central PA United’s affordability survey online.
