The State College New Year’s celebration, First Night, is set to take place beginning Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.. Borough police have announced the routes of the 2007 Grand Procession and 5K Resolution Run.
The procession will form at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 208 W. Foster Avenue and will travel north on S. Fraser Street, east on College Avenue, south on South Allen Street, and west on Foster Avenue to Central Parklet.
The 5K Resolution Run will start on East College Avenue at South Allen Street and runners will then proceed west on College Avenue to Burrowes Road. From Burrowes Road, runners will continue onto Curtin Road, then to Bigler Road, onto Pollock Road. From Pollock Road, runners will proceed onto Fraser Road, and from Fraser Road to Curtin Road, and then to Shortlidge Road. Finally, runners will return to College Avenue and travel west on College until they reach the end of Locust Lane.
Between 6 and 7:15 p.m., parts of East College Avenue will be restricted to one lane of traffic from South Garner Street to South Fraser Street. On-street parking will also be limited in the area.
