A fly-through video released by State College Area School District on Tuesday gives a virtual tour of the design plans for renovations and additions at Corl Street Elementary School.

The Corl Street project is one of three major elementary school renovation and construction projects in the district currently in the design phase. Radio Park Elementary also will have renovations and additions and Lemont Elementary will merge with Houserville in a new K-5 building at the Houserville site.

All three are currently at the 90 percent design stage and fly-throughs for each were shown at Monday’s school board meeting where the plans were reviewed. Videos for the Radio Park and Houserville plans should be released soon.

At Corl Street, plans call for 64,086 square feet of additions and renovations with three classrooms per grade. About 54,000 square feet will be new construction. Architectural firm Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates’ low-bid estimate for the project is $17.44 million. After state reimbursement the total cost to the district would be $16.2 million.

A community forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the Panorama Village Administrative Center boardroom for residents to review the 90 percent plans.

The board is expected to vote on the plans at its Aug. 28 meeting. The current project calendar calls for bids to be awarded on Nov. 13. Construction is expected to begin in January 2018 and be completed in the summer of 2019.
