Starting 6 p.m. Friday through 4 p.m. Sunday, 710 dancers will be on their feet for the kids and for the cure – it’s the 2013 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
In 2012, THON, the largest student-run philanthropy, raised a whopping, record-breaking $10.69 million for the Four Diamonds Fund. Hosted in the Bryce Jordan Center and lasting 46 hours, dancers will be joined by Four Diamonds families, who will have entertainment in the form of local bands, a talent show featuring Penn State’s athletes and a visit from familiar Penn State community faces, such as Penn State football coach Bill O’Brien and Jay Paterno.
On Sunday, the family hour will feature Four Diamonds families telling their stories of their children’s battles with cancer and for many, the road to recovery.
Between 2 a.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, parking restrictions in the Borough – that fall under the ‘no parking 2-6 a.m.’ will be lifted. One- and two-hour restrictions will be lifted at noon Friday but lawn parking is still restricted. According to the Borough, if inclement weather is predicted, such as snow and ice, parking will not be permitted.
