The Gap Factory outlet store is now open.
The store is located in the Trader Joe’s shopping center on South Atherton Street. It opened Friday morning.
Earlier this month, the Gap and Gap Kids closed its doors in the Nittany Mall.
“At Gap Inc., we’re constantly reevaluating our real estate portfolio to ensure we have the right stores in the right places to best serve our customers,” Gap Spokeswoman Andrea Hicklin told StateCollege.com.
The merchandise sold at the outlet store will be different than merchandise previously sold at the traditional Gap store in the Nittany Mall.
“Our Gap Inc. Outlet stores are just one way we extend our brands to a broader customer base,” says Gap Spokeswoman Kari Shellhorn. “The product sold at our outlet locations is specifically designed and produced with our Outlet stores in mind – offering customers a unique combination of style, quality and value.”
Lynn Buchart and her friend Kristin Marsh shopped inside the Gap Factory on Friday afternoon.
“In State College, you’re always excited about new things,” Buchart says.
Buchart admits she prefers the traditional Gap store that offers a different selection.
Marsh says she prefers the outlet store with greater bargains.
“You can find better deals here,” Marsh says.
Old Navy will be opening soon next door to the Gap Factory.
