If you’ve got a sweet tooth you’ll soon have a new opportunity to indulge yourself.
A well-placed source confirms to StateCollege.com that a new Gardners Candies store is coming to our area.
Construction is already underway at the T.J. Maxx Plaza on North Atherton Street. The new Gardners Candies shop is going in right next to the Panera Bread bakery-cafe, which opened earlier this year.
The company will not confirm the report about a new store, but there’s already a Gardners Candies sign in the window. We’re told the new Gardners Candies store should be open in time for Christmas.
This will be the second Gardners Candies store in State College. The other shop is located across town, inside the Nittany Mall. There is no decision yet on whether changes will be made regarding the Nittany Mall store.
Gardners Candies was founded in 1897 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. It’s best-known product is the Original Peanut Butter Meltaway, a favorite with many people.
Gardners Candies is available at a number of pharmacies and super markets. The company also operates 11 retail stores including 10 in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland.
