Twelve days after a scathing article run by ESPN depicted him as zealous at the chance to play a role in the Penn State scandal and the dismissals of Joe Paterno and Graham Spanier, Gov. Tom Corbett blasted the organization, calling the article ‘totally, factually wrong.’
Addressing reporters in New Cumberland on Monday, Corbett said he was reluctant to discuss specifics of the story because of a gag order issued earlier this month by the judge in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case.
‘But at some point in time,’ Corbett told reporters, ‘I will let everybody know exactly what I think of that article.’
When pressed, reports say, Corbett was irked by claims of Paterno’s involvement in prior political endorsements, the timing of his resignation as Attorney General and proposed cuts in state appropriations to Penn State without mention of the other state-related universities.
It’s the second time Corbett’s camp has responded to the article since it was published April 4.
