A couple of key dates are set for lawn and yard care in State College Borough.
Spring leaf collection will begin on Monday, March 30, and enforcement of the borough’s grass and weeds ordinance will start on Tuesday, March 31.
Public works crews will collect leaves once a week through May 7. Residents should place un-bagged leaves at the curb, and piles should be free of sticks and debris to avoid damage to collection equipment.
Leaf piles must also be kept separated from other curbside items such as brush piles, bulk items and refuse and organics containers.

For the grass and weeds ordinance, enforcement will continue through Oct. 31.
Grass and weeds may not exceed 6 inches in height.
Only one warning will be issued for the first violation of the growing season when vegetation exceeds 6 inches. After that, a $50 fine will be issued for each subsequent violation.
The State College Neighborhood & Community Services Department enforces the ordinance seven days a week. Questions can be directed to the department’s Ordinance Division by calling 814-234-7191 or emailing healthdept@statecollegepa.us.
