Penn State football secured the commitment of future grad transfer Spencer Rolland on Wednesday afternoon.
The offensive tackle plans to finish his senior year this fall and graduate from Harvard in May before transferring to Penn State for his final two years of eligibility.
Rolland played in all 10 games for the Crimson in 2019 but did not play a single snap in 2020 due to the Ivy League’s canceled season. Before the season fell through, however, he received preseason All-Ivy League honors.
He checks in at a self-reported 6-foot-6, 295-pound mark and would likely play as a tackle.
Though he won’t be coming to Happy Valley for another year, Rolland’s arrival will be a solid addition to an offensive line that will likely need some veteran help moving forward. His commitment as a transfer, paired with a strong group of 2022 prospects, could take Penn State in a positive direction for the next couple of seasons.
Rolland is the second recent Harvard offensive lineman to commit to the Nittany Lions. Guard Eric Wilson announced in January he is transferring to Penn State for the 2021 season.
