High winds caused downed trees and power lines and power outages throughout Centre County on Friday.
At 2:30 p.m., 2,343 West Penn Power customers in 32 of Centre County’s 35 municipalities were without electricity.
By early Friday evening, the number of customers experiencing outages was down to 785.
Restoration times for the remaining outages ranged from undetermined to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Earlier in the day in the Centre Region, Patton Township had 991 outages, or 14.87% of customers. College, Ferguson, Halfmoon and Harris townships and State College Borough all had outages affecting less than 1% of customers.
The highest percentage of outages were in Rush Township with 484 customers affected (22.86%) and Huston Township with 151 (25.46%).
Elsewhere, Benner Township had 115 (6.16%), Boggs Township had 99 (7.10%), Union Township had 72 (8.93%) Snow Shoe Township had 60 (6.31%)
Downed trees or power lines were reported Friday morning and afternoon in Ferguson, Curtin, Marion and Spring townships.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 6 p.m. Friday for Centre County with winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour and gusts of up 55 miles per hour. Gusts as high as 58 miles per hour were observed at Beaver Stadium.
