If you have a sweet tooth, it’s going to be a pretty good weekend to be in State College.

Following Friday’s National Doughnut Day freebies at several local shops, State College/Downtown Rotary will host its annual Ice Cream Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Now in its fifth year, the Ice Cream Fest will be held on the 100 block of South Allen Street, with locally made ice cream and activities for the whole family.

All proceeds from the festival will benefit Discovery Space and Schlow Centre Region Library. For $5, you can get five tickets, with each ticket good for one ice cream sample. Or for $20, get 25 tickets, again with each ticket good for one sample. Buy tickets ahead of time here. You can also get tickets at the event, and credit cards will be accepted

‘The ice cream festival is a really fun summer event for the whole family,’ Brodie Dalton, State College/Downtown Rotary Club Fundraising Committee Chair, said in a release. ‘There are many different children’s activities that are going on along with the chance to taste a ton of different ice cream flavors.’

Participating vendors include Gallikers, Turkey Hill, Vale Wood Farms, Ritchie’s Dairy, Berkey Creamery, Meyer Dairy, Wegmans, Trader Joe’s, Sauly Boys, Happy Buns and the NIttany Antique Machinery Association.

Among the other activities, Discovery Space will be on hand to make liquid nitrogen brownies. At the WPSU table, kids can meet the Cat in the Hat and learn about the summer reading program.

B94.5 and 95.3/3WZ will both be broadcasting live and Stacy Glen Tibbetts will provide live music. There also will be a balloon twister sponsored by PSECU and pinewood derby races presented by local Boy Scouts.
