Jersey Mike’s Bellefonte Location Set to Open

Jersey Mike’s Subs is ready to open as one of the first new businesses at the former Rite Aid building in Bellefonte.

The sandwich shop will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Suite 104 at 821 E. Bishop St., said Samantha Rannie, regional vice president of operations for franchisee Happy in the Valley LLC.

The location will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

It currently has about 20 employees and is aiming for a total of 30 to 35, Rannie said. Management is especially looking for staff who can work lunch shifts, she added.

Matt Patterson, owner of the Jersey Mike’s franchisee, acquired the 14,673-square-foot-building in 2025 and in January revealed plans to repurpose it for up to five commercial tenants.

The sandwich shop will occupy a 1,694-square-foot space at the front of the building and is one of three businesses so far for the property that for years housed Rite Aid until its closure in late 2023. It will be Patterson’s fourth Jersey Mike’s in Centre County, joining three State College area locations.

A Verizon retail store appears set to open adjacent to the sandwich shop in the 1,713-square-foot Suite 104. Rannie said she believed the phone carrier’s shop will open next week as well.

Dunkin‘ also has signed a lease for an 1,848-square-foot space with a drive-up window. An opening date for the coffee shop chain’s second location in the Bellefonte area has not yet been announced.

Tenants have yet to be determined for a 1,920-square-foot storefront and a 5,800-square-foot space, which was originally planned to be a fitness center.
