Jerry Sandusky’s defense team and prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office will be back in Bellefonte on Dec. 10 for a hearing on the post-sentence motions.

In the document signed on Thursday, Cleland set the hearing at 10 a.m. on Dec. 10 in the Centre County Courthouse. He also granted the defense team until Nov. 9 to file an amended post-sentence motion should it need to raise any additional ‘grounds for relief.’

On Oct. 18, Sandusky’s defense team filed an appeal on his behalf, citing too little time to sift through the massive amounts of discovery material received from prosecutors before trial, which should have been pushed back. The defense team filed motions for continuance three times before going to trial in June.

Cleland ordered the defense team to file a brief in support of the post-sentence motion on or before Nov. 16 and that the Commonwealth has until Dec. 5 to file its reply.

Sandusky, 68, was sentenced on Oct. 9 to 30-60 years behind bars for his sex crimes. He was transported from the Centre County Correctional Facility to Camp Hill Prison, about two hours away, on Tuesday.

Karl Rominger, counsel for Sandusky, tweeted about his client’s setup in jail on Thursday afternoon: ‘Just learned Jerry is on SOU ‘Special Observation Unit’ in an individual cell at Camphill were he can be monitored by guards 24/7.’
