Georgia-based student housing developer Landmark Properties announced on Thursday that it is moving forward with The Station, a cottage-style housing development at Toftrees geared toward Penn State students.
Patton Township’s Board of Supervisors in May approved the final land development plan for The Station, which will be located on the north side of Toftrees Avenue. The site is bordered on the northeast by the Woodledge Drive development, on the northwest by Toftrees golf course and on the west by Squirrel Run apartments.
The Station, which is expected to open for the fall of 2018, will be Landmark’s third student housing development in the Centre Region. The Retreat opened on Waupelani Drive in 2013. The Metropolitan high-rise at the corner of South Atherton Street and West College Avenue opened to residents on Aug. 18, though other areas of the building, such as the 32,000 square-foot retail and commercial space on the first two floors and the pool on the third floor, have not yet been completed.
The new development will include 162 cottage-style units with 668 bedrooms. The units will be a mix of floor plans ranging from one- to five-bedroom units. Earlier this year Patton Township amended its planned community zoning regulations to allow for unrelated individuals to occupy four- and five-bedroom units. A total of 25 percent, or 41 of the units in the final plan were five-bedroom cottages.
When completed, The Station’s amenities will include a clubhouse, ‘resort-style’ swimming pool, fitness center, golf simulator, and sand volleyball court, according to a news release.
The Station is pre-leasing this year.
“We’re looking forward to offering even more options for students at Penn State as we continue to grow our student housing portfolio and commitment to Happy Valley,” Landmark Properties president and CEO Wes Rogers said.
